According to Theodore Roszak from his book Person / Planet, "Self-knowledge must never be ennobling. It is supposed to be a hard road to guilty resignation. That, at least, has been our cultural orthodoxy." He goes on to quote Gide as saying, "the capacity to get free is nothing; the capacity to be free - that is the task." My question to you, Is there a point where self improvement can be said to be a dangerous road to travel? Kahlil Gibran wrote that, "Wisdom stands on the street corner and calls to us above the multitude, but we deem her a thing without worth and despise them that follow her." In his own work Jung observed that, "When a summit of life is reached, when the bud unfolds and from the lesser the greater emerges, then, as Nietzsche says, 'One becomes Two,' and the greater figure, which one always was but which remained invisible, appears to the lesser personality with the force of a revelation.
He who is turly and hopelessly little will always drag the revelation of the greater down to the level of his littleness, and will never understand that the day of judgement for his littleness has dawned. But the man who is inwardly great will know that the long expected friend of his soul, the immortal one, has now really come... a moment of deadliest peril!"
Or why would Einstein say that, "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocure minds." Could it be that this world is a dangerous place not ment for inner, much less outward illumination? Perhaps.
You must step lightly my friend on this path of the inward way. Otherwise you may find these words from Gibran are true. "And when a man hears the call of his heart and the cry of his spirit we say that such a one is possessed of a madness and we cleanse ourselves of him." There are far easier ways of learning, but none quite so rapid as this.
Real and true freedom can have a heavy price. Waking up is nothing, living it free and
undetected in a world without vision,
that is the real challenge.

In The Dark

We can live in the dark
without a spark
And call this the light
We can live all our life
In obediance to ignorance
and call this divine
We can worship our own
intelligence and believe
that what we achieve
is worth the price
Who is at the helm?

This Burden

I did not ask for this burden

Outside

Stepping outside the picture
Running with the peaceful wild
Nature
The beauty of no structure
Is itself a way of knowing
Knowing that is not structured
As we know it
As we are in our conditioned Lives


The Path of Awakening

What is this path?
Shed your skin
Get out of danger
Release the damage
Dissolve stagnate energy
Know when to advance the fire
Transmute accumilated mundanity
once it has congealed
It is a mystery
this medicinal energy
intense effort
prompt action is required


Inside Out

If we are constant within change
like the Sun which remains
bright even in secret at night
not only upon it's rising
then contentment is supreme
without the weeds of desire
clogging the portal of awareness
Blind allegiance selfish and uncaring
will never rise up to the heights
Gradual development is the surest way
where as prompt delivery
gained in haste is soon wasted
If you know the firing process
for the gold elixer of illumination
then you have the quality of humilty
with great power in virtue
This is the Spirit of Tao
not detached but engaged on principle




Beneath Obstructed

in burning me at the stake
going through the fire
getting to the other side
being celibate all those years
not knowing what this might bring
I had become enlightened
soon to be crucified
beneath obstruction

it is "a moment of deadliest peril!"
"this immortal" capacity
we have within
it is in the voice of sages
silent as thunder
discredit me
rob me of my good name
I can see the image you would create
a lie built upon obstruction
