As it is said this path is not hard to know but that what is
hard is to carry it out. What is meant by being able to
"preserve primal reality and not be damaged by acquired
conditioning." I ask you where is the harm in striving to
conquer the ego, where it has been said that
"the sun of the self is truth."
Interesting the thread of hope
that is dashed upon this
dark island of dispair
of redemption unfulfilled
change that is trapped
in this cycle of return
awakening and rebirth
how interesting the things
we might set out to achieve
upon a promise and a dream
~ * ~
Whether illumination is inside or out
matters little when it is all the
same illumination whether in striving
or in nonstriving where or whenever
true sense or true nature appears
that is where truth is - impresonal
nature or unemotinal sense each has
it's own time and place of emergence
premanently incorruptible gold
or restoring the celestial true
nature of humanity this is likened to
producing wood in fire without
smoke or flame or gold becoming
bright when refined by fire...
use the true fire of the orignal spirit to burn
away the mundane polluted substance of our human
temperment so that we might one day return to the
reality of our true nature... By changing the old we have
illumination on the inside free of arbitrary feelings ,
whereas once the new has been obtained illumination
is outside and can be used in the cultivation of virtue
and character

Stillness reigns supreme
unaffected senitivity
without force
feeling returns
to essential nature
the heart mind of creation
open awareness unobscured
strength expressed with flexibility
integrated with the celestial principle
true yin and true yang subtly commune
preserving the mind of Tao with sensitivity
without vascilation tranquil and imperturbable
yet sensitive and effective... the mind of the human
mentality is not the real mind; "the mind that
is not mind is called the true mind..."
spontanious nonconscious sensitivity
the substance of joyfulness is stillness
the function of stillness is joy
"You cannot say that the nonconsciousness of a dead tree
or clod ashes is the develpmental path of sensitivity,,,"
"The mind of Tao is a mind that is not minding."

"So the path of settling the unsettled has two aspects.
When yang energy is trapped, one must refine the self,
biding the time, thereby preventing danger. Once yang
energy has emerged from the trap, one should use
illumination to dispel darkness, thereby converting yin."
"Only when intensity and relaxation, advancing and
withdrawing, are properly timed is this the path of twin
cultivation of essence and life in which yin and yang
settle and complete each other. So students who would
practice the Tao should start by self-refinement."
"Overall , the point is to have no selfishness; if there is any
selfishness, no revolution can put an ened to mundanity
and purify celestial energy."
"In old text when it says that the alchemical elixer is in people,
but first they have to refine the self and wait for the proper time,
this means to make a radical purge of all the pollution of past
influences and not let any flaws remain in the heart."
"Excellence or inferiority in learning to comprehend essence
and life is all matter of finding out principle."
However, "If you know essence but not life, or know life but
not essence, or know striving but not nonstriving, or know
nonstriving but not striving, or know the medicinal substance
but not the firing process, or know the start but not the finish,
this is all incomplete investigation of principle, which will
inevitably result in failure in practice."
Gentle nonstriving revolution
primal unified awareness
returning to the fundamental
integrated with natural principle
"A person of inferior quality in deep danger must first refine
the self and control the mind in order to practice the Tao;
entering in gradually, one cannot seek completion all at
once."
"But if one is then foolish and vain and seeks to emulate the
way of those of lofty enlightenment and effect settlement,
one will be trailed by danger before even moving."
"When practioners of the Tao reach the point where yin and
yang are balanced, strength and receptivity are unified, and
the spiritual embyo is formed, then they can merge with
the ordinary world, hiding their illumination, to cultivate
advanced practice."
"The work of comprehending essence and arriving at the
univesral order of life is all a matter of thoroughly
penetrating truth."
"The blind practioners in the world who go into deviated
paths, taking what is wrong to be right, aggrandizing
themselves, boasting of their practices and cultivating
vain reputations, striving all their lives without ever
awakening, most assuredly are capable of constancy,
but they are constant in aberrated paths, not constant
in the right path."
"Generally speaking , a great affair which endures long
unchanging requires great work that endures long
unceasing before it can be achieved."

Wed, April 30, 2008 - 6:05 AM
My life as a landscaper begins again today;
the yapping dog next door started in yapping
at around three o'clock and the leg is fiting
pretty well... my deal is to be part time only,
while the ower is convinced to the contrary
finally it appears to be sinking in - if i am to
reclaim my life as an artist, now that the bulk
of this writing is done, i could use the time
off... i'm just to old for the wear and tear
on this body and to be honest the prosthetics
aren't designed to with stand the brutal assalt
of such constant effort - but then i always
was one for incredible indurance
as a means to over come obstruction
a great many challenges would be faced
along the course of this journey quite a
colorful history to say the least never a
moments rest so many transformations
upon the surface of mundanity building
strength of character, all greater challenges
revealed in my dreams yet through it all
one thing remains constant ~
this truth within...
as long as i'm not foreseeing things
the path is usually peaceful along
the way and now is the time
for action...
nothing else matters.
from the time i had been
released from this curse
and returned to heath
only to fall termimally ill
beneath mind stealing
treatments i made it through
i have remained commited
to the task at hand never
knowing the form it would take
but here we are at journey's end
so that a new chapter begins...
nearly all my creative resources
have been devoted to this
single minded effort...
causing all yin to follow yang
the firing process is the pracitice
of principles in action ~ open ~
primordial awareness awakened
There have been many concepts given
and many a day when there may have
appeared to be no conclusion
but it is here... that which remains constant
is the eternally real.

Transient Abundance
Sun, June 15, 2008 - 10:14 AM
"Practioners of the Tao should turn their attention inward to nurture
the light of awareness."
"Depending on whether awareness is internal or external, there is
a difference between disparity and nondisparity, between unity
and disunity."
"When practioners of the Tao get to the stage of taking (yang) from
~ water ~ and filling in (the yin) in ~ fire ~, so that water and fire settle
each other, they are fortunate to accomplish this after untold exertion
and toil; then they seal it securely and guard against danger, they
thereby complete the work that requires striving. Otherwise, if they
relax and stop working, the firing process goes amiss, unsettling
what has been settled, losing what has been attained. Therefore
the methods of striving and nonstriving are to be used according to
the appropriate time. The ultimate accomplishment is when being
and nonbeing are one, emptiness and fulfillment are both included,
and essence and life are both comprehended."
The Taoist I Ching
There is always this question of what happens after we awaken?
And the answer is everything and nothing. It is said that if you
truely wish to be given everything, then you must first give
everything up - learn to die before you die.
What happens after we have awakened? Tender sprouts
require good soil and a solid foundation to grow stout
and strong. Freedom is forgiveness.
"When the force of mundanity is congealed and stagnate,
practioners of the Tao should use intense effort to burn
it away; then when the celestial energy has returned
they should use gentle effort to nurture it. Each phase
has its proper time, which does not allow deviation or
delay."
"Once faults and wrongdoings are eleminated, there is
no more need to work on mastery and control."
This work of fulfilling nature...
i live here in this moment
aware that the landscape
we planted belongs to
someone else, but with
early morning coffee
the view of unfolding
lilies is spectacular
it has been a good spring
leading into the early summer heat
living this life, walking this path
somewhere along the middle way
this is my home ~ this is my life.
Of all the previous incarnations
student, philosopher, necessary recluse,
wrongly accused criminal, and more
recently carpenter and landsacper
etc... so many wheels set into motion
to end up here ~ surviving the 'crack '
invasion next door, held hostage
in my own home under siege
'because they could' - invade your life
to cast you in the darkest light
you suspect by no coincidence
revealed to you in a dream
beneath the microscope
of close public scrutiny
no stone goes unturned
we live by the rule of invalidation
that is how things here get done
What are respect and credibility
if not visible in the fruits of our labors
this has been my career...
to be held accountable for
a few careless words from a place
that can never be heard upon
the surface of things long ago...
and so the journey begins
transpersonal emergence
without a safty net
so few live to tell the tale
that this awakened state of being
is only the first step in learning
According to Jung there are
at least two distinct forms
of transpersonal awakening;
that within a group setting
and that of a solitary individual.
he points out that, although
this is relatively easy to invoke
within a group, the effect
doesn't tend to induce
any lasting change
and like an addict
the devotee or religious
participant must return
continually to get his/her fix
it doesn't matter the setting;
a free will pentecostal revival
or an all out Rave
the results are invaribly
the same, a sense of something
far greater beyond ourselves is
revealed to us as we escape
the drudgery of this mundane
existence... More rare is the
solitary seeker of inner certitude
who suddenly finds this place
of oneness where the individual
no longer exist in the moment
of awakening... early transpersonal
psychologist would call this
a state of 'spiritual emergency'
How is it we to often operate
under the mistaken impression
that inner illumination will resolve
all of our problems as if the idea
of enlightenment were some kind
of end in and upon itself...
So many books have been written
about this notion of what it means
to ~Be Here Now~ but
that is where the similarities end
where Leary meets Albert... And so
many popular schools of thought
teach us this pseudo science
of kundalini rising as a path
to wholeness through
tantric practice as popularized
by Crowely in his book of the law
written way back in the 50's
giving birth to a whole New Age
of ecstatic connections
placing the earth above heaven
in our quest to become
equal with the Gods...
So how are we to live within
this new agreement?
Where east meets west and this
'what the bleep' mentality
begins to take effect?
Yes, we say 'Love' is the key
but who gives us permission to awaken
if not the group or the teaching
we are most familiar with...?
Yes it is a New Age of self empowerment
of exploring our deeper recesses
our shadow side our totem teachers
the dark feminine within us all.
How do we reconcile all this with
who we are? Sufi, Taoist, terrorist
or buddhist we all have our core
beliefs ~ how we choose to live
this life caught in the mundane;
secrets of the mystery schools,
or those who would claim
to be spiritual but not religious
New Age, pagan, wiccan witchs
or those who practice sorcery
or practice black magic
each has it's own notion
of revealing relative being
where everything that is hidden
remains in plain sight, yet
within this age of instant gratification
where disorderly mobbing
preachs "Butterflies not Bombs"
something gets lost in translation
Freedom has a cost and like respect
must be earned, it can never be given
or taken for granted.
"To try to eliminate errant thoughts doubles the affliction;
to aim for reality as it is also is a mistake."
"Not getting ahead, not falling behind, not tense, not lax,
taking advantage of the right time to get to work, anyone
can obtain benefit. But the way to obtain benefit requires
knowledge of the southwest position of earth... 'The
medicine comes from the southwest... I clearly explain;
you should remember. I'm only afraid when you encounter
it your recognition won't be true.' Do you suppose the
southwest postion of 'earth' is easy to know?'"

Re: Transient Abundance

Isn't it strange that we would spend our entire life
just for this one moment of awakening:To return
to the begining by operating in reverse. And yet we
carry with us all our expectations of some final
destination when all along it is the journey
which matters most.
"Do your work and then step back.
The only path to serenity."
Yes this is true as long as we are able
to get out of our own way and allow
spirit to flow through us.
And yet we are constantly managing content assuming
that this is who we are... Much talk merely adds to the
problem. It is only by finding the truth within our own
experience that we know what it means to be open
and free in the moment. It is said that Feelings and
Essence are the key to harmony and balance.
Feelings represent receptivity and rectitude
in stillness whereas Essence is the presence
of benevolence and compassion in action...
Upon the the loss of original natural reality
a breath of living potential still remains
reversing the path utterly empty and silent
the primordial energy comes forth from
nothingness... within black there is white
"To return it, it is necessary to take advantage of times when
this living potential appears and set about quickly to gather it -
only then canit be one's own. If the living potential has not yet
appeared, and you keep to quietude in empty silence, how
can it return? ...the living potential appears with the interaction
of yin and yang - gather it and put it in the furnace of creation,
and in a moment calamity turns into blessing, punishment
turns into reward."
"When yin culminates yang is born: there is yang within yin -
this is called 'a companion comes.' If yin does not culminate,
yang is not born, and the compainion does not come; if the
compainion does not come, yin and ynag do not interact -
then where would creative energy come from?"
"The energy of harmoy of essence and feeling in people is
the yang fire; this is the real. The restlessness of acquired
energy in people is the yin fire; this is the false. The real
completes life the false injures life."
"This path is not difficult to know, but it is difficult to practice;
when you know it ,it is most important that you practice it."

"To advance the fire and employ illumination, it is
necessary to first illumine the inner; illumination
of the inner is refinemen of the self. Refining the
self simply means refining the yin in oneself.
What yin is this? It is the human mentaltiy."

What is Real ~ The Awakened Life
Wed, June 25, 2008 - 7:34 AM
Hardship or Joy
what does our
happiness bring
lost in the mundane?
and where does it matter?
This beautiful morning
where to be seen?
"Just as a lake without water is empty, when people lack purpose
their path is at an end. Therefore they use life to the full to
achieve their aim."
"There is a life that consists of a quantity of energy, and there is a
life that consists of meaning of the Tao. The life that is a quantity
of energy is created by the universe, and is conditioned; the life
of meaning of the Tao creates the universe, and is primordial."
"The primordial life is fundamentally something celestial,
associated with Heaven (or Sky); because of mixing with
acquired conditioning, it enters the realm of Earth and
changes into water; this is the one yang in the center of water.
Once this celestial yang falls, the jewel of life is hidden, and
the whole body is completely mundane. There is no exhastion
more exhausting than this."
"Using life to the full means to get to the end of conditioned
life, achieving one's aim means to achieve the primordial
life. Establishing this aim to use life to the full, using life to
the full to achieve this aim, while the amount of energy
depends on something else, creating life depends on one-
self. "
"Using the temporal to restore the primordial, ending false
life and establishing real life, producing being in the midst
of nothingness, seeking life within death, getting through
an exhausting empasse, is like a lake without water again
being filled with water."
"To understand when to proceed and when to withdraw,
to know when to stop at sufficiency, is not something of
which of the ignorant are capable."
"Only when there is development in both comfort and adversity
can one be called a practioner of the Tao."
I Ching
Remaining correct brings good fortune...
as false brilliance leaves true illumination arises
this is the science of the rectified mind
making the intent sincere
"The primordial is that whereby the real body is made, the
temporal is that whereby the phantasmic body is made."

What is Real ~ The Awakened Life
Thu, June 26, 2008 - 7:50 AM
"Inasmuch as the way of life is preforce difficult, the way
of death is not easy either. If one does not postpone death
but rather hastens death, hoping for quick accomplishment,
one may become a nihilistic quietist."
"When the mind is open, the primordial energy comes forth
from nothingness, so that one can recieve enhancement
from 'the other' and become fulfilled."
The great comes as the small falls away
acquired pollutants give way to openness
Each moment has its own method
for sustaining inner clarity ~
In danger, difficulty or contention
working through obstructions
thunder that rolls upon the wind
sensing that is swift penetrats
the subtle barrier that exist
between yin & yang
temporal and primordial
the celestial and earthly
the swiftness of sensing
in nonstriving spontaneity
from gradual to immediate
requires constancy of mind
"Order without proper arrangement cannot accomplish anything;
knowledge of the ingredients without knowledge of the process
cannot accomplish the Tao."
What is this faithfulness in hiddden practice of inner refinement?
Being thus in the same voice in the same spirit spontaniously
without aiming for it. Mutual seeking in mutual response...
"With true faithfulness in the center, knowing the white and keeping
the black, subtly penetrating the barrier between yin and yang,
spiritual illumination comes naturally..."
"Petty people without knowledge act arbitrarily, in ignorance,
wrongly coveting the celestial treasure; they act dangerously
on a dangerous basis... If you do not wait for the proper time
and rush forward in hopes of speedy accomplishment, you
will certainly regret having beckoned danger."
